Welcome to ManMedSoc.com!

A huge welcome from everyone on your MedSoc committee, especially from us, your President and Vice President for 2016/17. We are Nabeel and Alex and, after successfully overruling the previous MedSoc dictatorship, we are pleased to welcome you as the new President and Vice President.

Last year was pretty big for MedSoc. From continuing classics such as Scrubs Crawl, Pyjama Pub Crawl, and the ever-fantastic Medic's Ball, to our newer events like the Winter Formal, mock OSCE revision days and our Summer Garden Party & BBQ. We also rebranded The Pacemaker: an entirely student run magazine, and ran our second annual MedX - a national conference for medical students.

This year, to accommodate our new raft of events and initiatives, we have expanded our committee to 24 members. Using them, we will be looking to improve your social calendar even more; our second winter Ceilidh is in the works, and inter-PBL competitive events are also on the cards (the entire list of socials can be found on our website). Aside from that, we will be running monthly lectures tailored towards each level of the course, along with mock OSCE study days for both phase 1 and 2 later in the year.

Another thing we tirelessly work for to bring you is the MedSoc membership card. If you haven’t already got it, the earlybird offer of £20 ends today at the welcome fair, but you can always purchase one for £25 from our shop in the Chromozone open 11-1 daily, or whenever you so desire via our website. Apart from ensuring you receive mercy in our new regime if you buy one, you will also be entitled to: at least £1 off all of our socials, free entry to all of our lectures, discounted priority tickets for the mock OSCEs, £5 off your ball ticket. 10% off all merchandise in our shop (our fabulously fashionable Manchester MedSoc hoodies and sweatshirts), discounts at a huge range of local establishments, bars and restaurants and discounts from textbook publishers and other exam resources.

We will be building on the successes of last year; wild socials, sophisticated formals and informative lecture series' as well as a whole heap of charity and wellbeing events and adding a few new things to the mix. Along the way, we would appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

On a personal note, welcome to Manchester, welcome to Medicine and welcome to the best five (or more) years of your life!

MedSoc love xx

Nabeel Jogee, President
Alexandra Grey, Vice-President
